PicoZed SDR info

I just noticed http://picozed.org/sdr

Looks like the design is pretty far along. What is the schedule for releasing more info?

PicoZed SDR info

PicoZed SDR is scheduled for release in late summer this year. An early demo of Simulink LTE play/record/analyze to PicoZed SDR will be shown at IMS show in Phoenix May 18-21.

Dimensions and costs - PicoZed

Hi,

Could you please comment on the size (dimensions) and estimated cost of the PicoZed SDR board?

Next week...

Approx. size is 100mm x 62mm.

Please check back @ picozed.org/SDR next week. We will be publishing to the web details that were shown at the IMS2015 event in Phoenix this week.

Thanks for your interest.

Next week...

Hello,

Thank you Matt for the information. Most appreciated

PicoZed SDR

I am looking for technical details as well as cost and lead-time info on the PicoZed SDR.

I have not been able to find the IMS2015 info anywhere. Is it out yet? If not when can we expect it and where will it be?

Thanks!

Thanks

We are on track for release in September and the IMS2015 presentation will be posted soon. I'll double-check with our web team.

price?

I've got a MicroZed 7Z020 right now, and am planning on buying an FMC carrier card and AD9361 FMC Card (FMCOMMS3). Would it be cheaper just to wait and buy a Picozed-SDR?

note:

I've already checked out the IMS 2015 product brief from the main picozed/sdr website, and the video hosted on IMS... and can't find any info yet on any expected price range.

Pricing not released yet

We're still 2 months away from the launch date, so it's too early to publish any pricing. Today FMCOMMS3 sells for $750. The PicoZed SDR SOM will likely cost more than the FMCOMMSx modules since it integrates the Zynq Z7035, memory, interfaces, and power management in a small SOM.

ohhh, 7z035

Oops!

I missed that! 7035 vs the 7020 that I'm working with in the microZed.
I expect a little bit of a price difference, but not as expensive as an E310 (with their enclosure, GPS, different memory, and whatnot), despite the PicoZedSDR having the 7035.

I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Thanks!

If we buy picozed SDR board, shall we get reference designs along with that?

Yes ...

Several reference designs will be available.  The first will be similar to those currently available for the FMCOMMS2/3 boards.

What type of reference design do you need?

Thanks,
Matt

Academic discount?

Any information whether there will be an academic-friendly discount?

HI Brown,

May i know tentatively when you are going post schematic and etc.. on web?

Larger MIMO

I'm currently deciding on the components for an experimental MIMO SDR system that will start at 4x4 and eventually grow to 8x8 and 16x16 in size. Does this SDR have 10MHz reference and synchronization inputs/outputs? I was just about to order a few Ettus B210's but really like this SDR's larger/newer FPGA compared to the B210's use of a Spartan6.

Part of my question is

Part of my question is answered here:
http://zedboard.org/content/picozed-sdr-7035ad9361-som-syncing-multiple-...

Sounds like there is no way to do synchronization without a custom FMC carrier board which exposes the sync_in. Too bad this wasn't exposed with a U.FL connector.

Still wondering about the frequency reference.

Available from custom carrier

Hi JH,
PicoZed SDR provides an on-board 40MHz crystal and an external clocking option for the AD9361 by using an analog multiplexor (ADG772).  If an external oscillator is used, the frequency can vary between 10 MHz and 80 MHz.  The selection between the two clock sources is under control of a Zynq PL pin in Bank 34 (K11).
The external clock signal is provided by a custom carrier board through the micro headers on the bottom of the SOM.  As such, the same clock can be routed to the Zynq device if syncrhonization between BBP and RF devices is required.

Hope that helps.
