Xilinx has teamed up with OmniTek on a Linux-based high performance real time processing platform for broadcast equipment based around its Zynq programmable system on a chip.
The OmniTek Zynq-7000 SoC Broadcast Development Kit allows broadcast OEMs to now combine their own hardware and software IP with a high-performance, reprogrammable video processing platform for creating unique and differentiated broadcast equipment that can easily adapt to changing standards.

During Last year's Globalpress conference I was introduced to the Zynq platform from Xilinx. At the time I thought it had terrific potential to provide an FPGA based solution to many types of systems. it provides an efficient framework for software development and integration that can support solutions that use large amount of memory.

Xilinx, Inc. has announced open-source Linux Asymmetric Multi-Processing (AMP) support for its extensible processing platform (EPP).
This announcement will enable developers to put Zynq-7000 devices to work on applications that need to deliver deterministic, real-time responsiveness for markets such as automotive, industrial and others with similar requirements.
